Bruce M. Rothney, CA
Bruce Rothney is the President and Country Head for Barclays Capital Canada Inc. He has responsibility for Barclays Capital's overall operations in Canada.
Mr. Rothney has 23 years of leadership, general management, client coverage and transaction experience in investment banking. After beginning his career on Wall Street with Goldman Sachs, Mr. Rothney joined RBC in the Equity Capital Markets Group, and then founded RBC's Communications, Media and Technology Investment Banking team. In this role, Mr. Rothney was responsible for many of the firm's senior corporate relationships.
In 1994, Mr. Rothney was appointed Head of Corporate Finance and became a member of both the Operating and Executive Committees at RBC Capital Markets. In 2001, he was appointed Global Head of Investment Banking for RBC Capital Markets.
In 2004, Mr. Rothney was appointed Deputy Chairman of RBC Capital Markets and Senior Vice President of RBC Financial Group. He has played senior client coverage roles for clients and transaction execution in Canada, the US, Middle East and Asia, involving clients in the Sponsor/Private Equity, Diversified/Consumer, FIG, Steel/Mining, Energy and CMT sectors.
In 2000, Mr. Rothney was awarded the "Top 40 Under 40" designation by Caldwell Partners. He serves on the Board of The Bishop Strachan School (Vice Chairman) and Canada's Walk of Fame (Chairman). He is a past Board member of Craig Wireless, a publicly-traded 4G wireless services provider, and North York General Hospital. He is a founding Advisory Board Member for The Blackberry Partners Fund.
Mr. Rothney received his MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business (Nelson M. MacIntyre Scholar) Chartered Accountant Bruce also holds a B.Comm. (Honors - Distinction) from the University of Manitoba.
