Cross-platform mobile gaming and app store Zedge has launched a range of free mobile games and apps on its Zedge.net website, using Appia's white label app marketplace technology.
Cross-platform mobile gaming and app store Zedge has launched a range of free mobile games and apps on its Zedge.net website, using Appia's white label app marketplace technology.
Zedge - which has around 40 million unique monthly users - has worked with open app marketplace Appia to add a range of free titles to its existing catalogue of paid-for apps.
Appia's white label app marketplace technology provides Zedge with games developed for BlackBerry, Symbian and Java platforms.
Appia has similar deals with Mexican operator Telcel and the mobile browser Opera. The addition of Zedge means that the 32,000-strong Appia developer community have access to an even larger number of mobile subscribers globally.
Founded in 2008, Appia has seen 200 million downloads through more than 40 app storefronts including Opera Software, Vodacom South Africa and Samsung. The company recently said it passed more than 1 million downloads per day during Q2 2011.
In April, Appia launched a pay-per-download advertising network to help developers improve the promotion of their apps by allowing them to target ads by country and platform.
