16 Finalists to Compete for US$100,000 Grand Prize Package at BlackBerry Final 16 Event at the BlackBerry Developers Conference in November
TORONTO - October 1, 2009 - The BlackBerry Partners Fund today named 7digital Music Store (by DevelopIQ), FileScout (by Matthias Marquardt), ProOnGo Expense with Receipt Reader (by ProOnGo LLC) and ShoZu (by ShoZu) as the last four (4) Finalists in the 2009 BlackBerry Developer Challenge. The finalists were selected by a panel of judges based on the following criteria: compelling product or service; clearly defined value proposition and technical execution.
- 7digital Music Store lets users browse the latest music charts, preview the latest tracks and discover, purchase and download high quality, DRM-free MP3 music directly to a BlackBerry smartphone. The software also comes with an integrated advanced media player that imports your existing playlists and music files.
- FileScout is a file manager for your BlackBerry device. In addition to its core functionality, the software allows users to search for files, send any file by Bluetooth or as an email attachment, and open media files including pictures, movies and music files.
- ProOnGo Expense with Receipt Reader lets users track mileage and expenses right from their BlackBerry. ProOnGo allows users to take a snapshot of their bill with the device camera and export expenses to Excel or QuickBooks.
- ShoZu enables mobile users to upload photos and videos to over 50 different destinations, update statuses on Twitter and Facebook and view comments and posts on those images.
With today's announcement, a total of 16 finalists have secured their participation in the BlackBerry Final 16 at the 2009 BlackBerry Developers Conference on November 9, 2009, where they will vie for a grand prize package valued at over US$100,000 and a runner up prize package worth more than US$25,000. The winners will be announced on November 10, 2009.

Like previously announced finalists, the final four will each receive a prize package valued at more than US$5,000, including one week on the BlackBerry App World Featured Application Carousel; one BlackBerry Developers Conference pass; and, one BlackBerry smartphone.
Over the course of the four-month challenge, four Finalists were selected and announced at the end of June, July, August and September 2009 respectively. Previously announced finalists include: Wicked Blog App (by ScreamingToaster LLC), e-Mobile Today Professional Edition (by e-Mobile Software, Inc.), Unsynced Music Player (by Unsynced Inc.), AFP Mobile News (by Handmark - in partnership with AFP); Fierce Towers (by Nickel Buddy), Astraware Solitare (by Handmark), Expense Manager (by Total Wireless Solutions), Vision for YouTube (by Metova), David (by Turner Technologies), Sid Meier's Pirates (by Concrete Software Inc.), CBS News (by Handmark), and Market Simplified (by Market Simplified Inc.).
