BlackBerry Partners Fund Jump Start Financing Initiative

Overview

Get the jump on the competition and start working with the BlackBerry Partners Fund™ to launch your company. The Jump Start initiative is designed to help you focus on developing your Smartphone application and getting it to launch stage – often the most critical time for a young start-up company. We have made it really easy. If we like your concept, the BlackBerry Partners Fund™ may provide up to CAD $250,000 of seed capital to your company in the form of a Convertible Debenture. This provides you with the capital to get started and prove out your concept before raising larger amounts of equity from venture capital firms.

Program Details

Rather than take equity in exchange for our investment, we will provide your venture with an interest bearing loan that is convertible into equity, if and, when your company successfully raises its first round of financing. In exchange for sharing the risk of starting up, the BlackBerry Partners Fund™ loan will convert at a discount. When it comes time to raise your first round, we would like the first opportunity (subject to approval) to finance your company as well. During the start-up period we will work closely with you. The goal of the Jump Start program is to gain early exposure to innovative opportunities and entrepreneurs with a view toward leading their Series A round of funding. During this time we will leverage our start-up experience, knowledge and extensive networks in the mobile market to help you gain an unfair competitive advantage.
