BlackBerry Partners Fund Announces Winners of the "BBM" Competition in the 2011 BlackBerry Developer Challenge
Acknowledges "Recognition Award" Winners in North America and Latin America
SAN FRANCISCO (2011 BlackBerry Developer Conference) - October 18, 2011 - BlackBerry Partners Fund™ today announced the winners of the "BBM" competition in the fourth annual BlackBerry Partners Fund Developer Challenge. Winners of the Most Addictive Social Apps Using the BBM Social Platform were selected on a regional basis. Apps were evaluated and judged on the level of integration with the BBM™ social platform, quality and use of development best practices, level of visual appeal, user experience, and creativity and innovation.
North America:
- Grand Prize Winner: SeaBattleSE (Vendor: Toysoft Development Inc)
- First Runners-up: AP Mobile World Edition (Vendor: The Associated Press)
- Second Runners-up: Jingu (Vendor: Jingu Apps Inc.)
Latin America:
- Grand Prize Winner: MTV Nightfinder (Vendor: Consultora Eudaimonia SRL)
- First Runners-up: Social Game Center (Vendor: Walkover)
- Second Runners-up: Navita Translator (Vendor: Navita Tecnologia)
Europe, Middle East and Africa:
- Grand Prize Winner: Wikitude (Vendor: Wikitude GmbH)
- First Runners-up: FancyTran (Vendor: FancyApps Limited)

Asia Pacific:
- Grand Prize Winner: Cricket with Friends (Vendor: Synqua Games)

- Second Runners-up: GiftnTake - Personalized Gifts for your Social Friends (Vendor: Risto Mobile Solutions Pte Ltd)
BBM is one of the largest mobile social networks in the world on which users can experience "BBM connected" apps powered by the recently launched BBM 6. BBM connected apps integrate the popular functionality of the BBM service and offer users the ability to interact with their friends from within the app itself.
BlackBerry Partners Fund also announced Recognition Award winners. New for the 2011 BlackBerry Developer Challenge, Recognition Award winners were selected from applications across six categories based on the level of visual appeal, user experience, and creativity and innovation.
North America:

Latin America:
- Best B2C application developed for a customer by an Agency or ISV - Sonora by Terra Networks
- Most useful enterprise application - Workforce Automation by Sensebyte Mobile
- Best website conversion using the BlackBerry WebWorks platform - La Cuarta by Patagonia Labs
- Most creative implementation of Super App characteristics - Engarrafora Vonpar by Binario
- Top Performers: Most innovative use of Payment Service and/or Advertising Service - Navita Tecnologia
- Academic: Most compelling application created by student or faculty - Fast Horse by Tiago Schenkel
Winners of the Recognition Awards for Asia Pacific as well as Europe, Middle East and Africa regions will be announced at DevCon Asia, December 7 - 8, 2011 and DevCon Europe, February 7 - 8, 2012 respectively.
DevCon and Prizes
Winners of all three competitions taking place in the 2011 BlackBerry Partners Fund Developer Challenge have now all been announced and will be recognized at the 2011 BlackBerry Developer Conference (DevCon) taking place today through October 20 in San Francisco.
- Winners of the Most Innovative BlackBerry® WebWorks™ App for the BlackBerry PlayBook™ tablet and BlackBerry® smartphones were announced on September 21, 2011. The list of WebWorks winners can be found at http://www.blackberrypartnersfund.com/winners2011/webworks.

Prizes for the 2011 BlackBerry Partners Fund Developer Challenge are valued at $3 million, almost double the value of prizes awarded last year. Prizes and awards include placement on the BlackBerry App World featured carousel, membership in the BlackBerry® Alliance Program, BlackBerry accessory gift certificates and more.
